Viewmont Swimming
The Viewmont High School Swim Team is based in Bountiful, Utah, and is dedicated to developing well-rounded student-athletes through competitive swimming, teamwork, and personal growth. The team trains at the South Davis Recreation Center during the Utah High School swim season, which runs from August to February. During these months, swimmers focus on improving stroke technique, increasing endurance and speed, mastering race strategies, and preparing for dual meets, invitationals, region championships, and the state championship meet. Coaches emphasize proper mechanics, goal setting, and consistent improvement to help each athlete reach their full potential.
Practice Schedule
During the competitive season, practices are held in the pool and consist of structured workouts designed to improve all aspects of competitive swimming. Athletes participate in technique drills, interval training, aerobic and anaerobic conditioning, race-pace sets, starts, turns, relay exchanges, and race simulations. Swimmers also complete regular flexibility and mobility exercises to reduce injury risk and improve performance.
From March to July, the team transitions into an off-season training program that emphasizes building a strong physical foundation for the upcoming season. Off-season workouts include weight training, core strengthening, plyometric exercises, cardiovascular conditioning, mobility work, and injury prevention. Athletes are encouraged to continue swimming through club teams or independent workouts while maintaining their overall fitness. This balanced approach helps swimmers return to the competitive season stronger, faster, and better prepared.
Eligibility Requirements
To join and remain a member of the Viewmont High School Swim Team, students must be currently enrolled at Viewmont High School and remain academically eligible throughout the season.
