Practice Info
The Viewmont High School Swim Team officially begins practice during the second week of school. All pool practices are held at the South Davis Recreation Center in Bountiful, Utah. Athletes should arrive 15 minutes early to be dressed, have their equipment ready, and be prepared to begin practice on time at 2:45pm.
Morning Swim Conditioning Class
5th Period (B Days)
7:00–8:30 a.m.
Swimmers enrolled in the Swim Conditioning class will participate in structured morning workouts during 5th period on B days. These practices focus on developing stroke technique, endurance, speed, starts, turns, and overall race preparation. Athletes should come prepared to work hard while building the skills and conditioning needed for a successful season.
After-School Team Practice
Monday–Friday
2:40–4:00 p.m.
All members of the Viewmont Swim Team are expected to attend after-school practices throughout the season. These practices are designed to improve individual performance while building team chemistry and preparing athletes for upcoming competitions. Workouts will include technique drills, aerobic and anaerobic conditioning, interval training, sprint work, race-pace sets, relay exchanges, starts, turns, and recovery activities.
Consistent attendance is essential for individual improvement and team success. If a swimmer must miss practice because of illness, a school activity, or another unavoidable circumstance, they should notify the coaching staff as soon as possible.
What to Bring to Practice
Each swimmer should arrive prepared with:
- Swimsuit
- Goggles (a spare pair is recommended)
- Swim cap
- Towel
- Water bottle
- Training fins, paddles, kickboard, pull buoy, and snorkel (if assigned)
- Positive attitude and willingness to work hard
Attendance Expectations
Success in swimming comes from consistency. Swimmers are expected to attend practices regularly, arrive on time, give their best effort every day, and encourage their teammates. Every practice is an opportunity to improve, build confidence, and strengthen the team.
